CYBERSOBER.COM OFFERS ONE WEEK FREE TRAIL TO ANYONE SUFFERING FROM POST TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE

A study conducted by the New England Journal of Medicine found that an estimated 67,000 Manhattan residents suffered from post traumatic stress disorder and 87,000 suffered from depression after the tragic events of September 11th. Researchers also found that drinking in the workplace increased substantially after the September 11th.
“Because alcohol use is a common response to fear, grief, and depression, individuals who have suffered previous trauma face an even greater risk of substance abuse,” said workshop panelist Dr. John Higgins-Biddle of the University of Connecticut Health Center. “

Cybersober.com realizes that these issues affect the entire nation, and have offered a one-week free trial to anyone needing assistance in dealing with post traumatic stress disorder or substance abuse. Tuesday morning, President and CEO of Cybersober.com, Rob Morgan announced on CNN Daybreak that anyone who is interested may log on to cybersober.com with the username: CNN (lowercase) and password: daybreak. This service is available until Wednesday, September 18, 2002 after which the yearly membership fee will be $19.95.

Cybersober.com, is a comprehensive online information and support system for persons recovering from dependency and their families. The site provides a confidential way to access more than 260,000 meetings for Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, Gamblers Anonymous, Overeaters Anonymous and other life improving programs across the United States and throughout 72 countries worldwide. Licensed by MapQuest, the leading online provider of destination information solutions, Cybersober.com provides maps and door-to-door driving directions. Meetings are categorized by a variety of methods including location, time, smoking/non-smoking, men/women, etc, in order to provide members with the most comfortable setting available.

CEO and President, Robert B. Morgan II, founded Cybersober.com in 1999 after a real life experience spurred the realization that there was an urgent need for a resource that links recovering addicts who are on the road with easily accessible meetings in any location. While away on business, Morgan was in need of an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting. After several unsuccessful attempts to reach the local Intergroup office, Morgan approached the hotel concierge, only to be given the same Intergroup number. Discouraged, frustrated, and left with no other choice, Morgan shut himself in his room for the rest of the night and the concept for Cybersober.com was born.

New programs and services expected to be “live” by November 1, 2002 address two specific areas:
- - Post Traumatic Stress Disorder has come to grip the lives of many individuals since the tragic events of September 11th. Cybersober.com is in the process of developing a new subsection of the site that will specifically provide support to individuals suffering from this syndrome.
- - Cybersober.com will also implement a program that will provide resources and means of support to the nation’s probation courts and officers in communicating with first time drug and alcohol offenders.

Currently Cybersober.com counts over 1 million members from partnerships with workers unions such as the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers and a number of nationally acclaimed private and publicly funded treatment centers such as Challenges; The Better Way; Lakeview Health Systems; Eagleville Hospital; Alternatives in Treatment; Focus Healthcare; Lifeskills of Boca, as well as many others.

CYBERSOBER.COM CONNECTS RECOVERING ALCOHOLICS AND ADDICTS TO OVER 260,000 MEETINGS WORLDWIDE

Drug and alcohol abuse are two of the most serious diseases facing our nation. One of the most critical aspects of the recovery process is attending twelve step meetings on a regular basis.

But…what if one’s never been to a meeting, doesn’t know where to go, or is homebound and unable to get to a meeting? Or, in the most common scenario that leads to relapse…what if one is away on business, surrounded by friends and co-workers who are set on having a wild night and desperately needs a support group but has no way of finding one.

It is in these situations that it is most vital to get help, and so many people don’t know where to turn. Now they can log onto Cybersober.com wherever they are and whenever they need in order to find a meeting or support group at a nearby location.

Cybersober.com is a comprehensive online information and support system for persons recovering from dependency and their families. The site provides a confidential way to access more than 260,000 meetings for Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, Gamblers Anonymous, Overeaters Anonymous and other life improving programs across the United States and throughout 72 countries worldwide. “For members of a recovery program, there is a great need to quick, easy and reliable information on how to get from a hotel to the nearest meeting while traveling in unfamiliar areas,” said Cybersober.com president, Rob Morgan. “One of the greatest challenges that I continue to face is finding AA meetings when I am on the road.”

Since it’s inception, Cybersober.com has grown to provide a myriad of technological elements that creates a comprehensive continuing care platform featuring the largest database of twelve-step meeting locations, daily on-line meetings, daily journals, chat rooms, forums, a reference library, interactive recovery sections, and a listing of treatment providers. Additional features include a prevention, education and support resource for teenagers and their parents.

Partnering treatment and outpatient facilities can also utilize the Continued Care Plan, which is aimed to assist treatment center professionals in the aftercare process. This system protects the anonymity of patients by using an identification number. Also available is the Preferred Provider’s Package, which includes a sub-site for each facility featuring online meetings, recovery chat, industry news, patient progress reports, and a 90 day outcome report providing statistical, demographic and outcome data crucial in meeting accreditation standards.

May 9, 2000 - (BW)(FL-CYBERSOBER) Cybersober to map way for addiction recovery By Michael R. Abramowitz, dbusiness.com
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., May 9 (dbusiness.com) -- Cybersober.com, an online information and support system for recovering alcoholics and addicts, announced that it has entered into a collaborative relationship with MapQuest.com to provide maps to people with addictions.

Cybersober will present to its readers online maps and directions to guide people seeking treatment to more than 133,000 support groups and treatment centers nationwide, including Alcoholics Anonymous and ALANON.

Members of AA pledge to regularly attend meetings during recovery while at home and when on the road for either business or pleasure.

"MapQuest is thrilled to be involved with a product that helps so many people," Lisa Gebb, MapQuest's marketing manager in New York City, told dbusiness.com. "What is really neat about this is that they've set up a multi-criteria site where people can search by the location or the specific meeting they're looking for."

Cybersober stated that many AA members have trouble finding their way to meetings while out of town because of unfamiliarity with the roads or locations.

Cybersober.com was founded in 1999 by recovering alcoholic Robert B. Morgan II to use technology and the Internet to help eliminate barriers to recovery for people with addictions.

MapQuest.com (Nasdaq: MQST) designs printable maps and directions for Web users and businesses. In 1999, the company produced over 130 million online maps.

Cybersober paid an undisclosed sum to MapQuest for the arrangement, according to MapQuest representatives.

Shares of MapQuest.com were down 31 cents to $17.06 in afternoon trading. The stock has ranged from $8.75 to $32.50 in the past year.
